Child Dedication is a time when your church family can join with you in celebrating the gift God has placed in your arms! As Christians, we recognize that everything we have belongs to God, even our kids (Psalm 127:3-5). Each generation has the responsibility to instill within the next generation a reverence for God and the knowledge of His Word. In this way, God can build on basic truths – right living, loving God and our fellow man – to reveal Himself more fully to each generation. As you dedicate your child to the Lord, you are actually dedicating yourselves as parents to help your child mature and fulfill his or her divine destiny.
This memorable service offers you an opportunity as a parent to commit to raising Christ-centered, others-oriented children. It also gives you the opportunity to have the Pastor pray for God’s blessings on your child and your family. It makes public the church’s commitment to your family and your family’s commitment to the church. Each family who participates will receive a Bible and Certificate of Dedication.
Who can participate in Child Dedication?
In order to participate in our Child Dedication service, you must be the parents or legal guardians of the child and an active member of Living Word. What does it mean to be active? It starts with joining the church after attending one of our Membership Classes. It continues with regular worship attendance, being an active contributor and using your talents to serve the Lord at LWM in some volunteer area. To sign up for our next Child Dedication service, simply fill out the online application. You will receive a call prior to the dedication to confirm your participation.
When are Child Dedication services held?
Child Dedication is held three to four times throughout the year during our 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning service. Please check your bulletin or call the church office to find out the date of our next Child Dedication service.
Can a single parent participate in a baby dedication?
Yes. We want to do all we can to encourage your walk with Christ. As a church family, we desire to be a part of your extended family. If you want to participate in a Dedication service and would like the support of your parents or another family member, we will gladly discuss this with you before the service to provide guidance on how they can take part.
